Domo Bento & Un-sliced Rainbow Cake

My first time using my label sticker! My cousin made it for my birthday :D

I'm so tired right now.. I have just finished my rainbow cake order :D Can't wait for it to be sliced, it's only pretty when it's cut ;;)

Candy Melts

I used strawberry candy melts for the letters. I melted it with a double-boiler, spread it thin, and cut it with a cookie cutter when it's set. *If you're making one, don't freeze it otherwise it will crack when you cut it*

Anyways, I cooked for my sister again today! It supposed to be Domo-kun but you know.. As you can see, it's not so pretty or cute.

Domo losts two of his teeth

That's all for now. Bye bye ~

Baking Class

Good morning bloggers! Last week, I joined a baking class. My mom's friend held it. I learned 3 recipes (Carrot Cake, Banana Cake-my favorite, and Apple Wholemeal Cake). Beside from baking, we had meal together. The teacher brought some cake from The Baker's (Ranch Pastry) and my classmate brought a pack of her Pempek (it's some kind of fish ball eaten with sauce - traditional food from Palembang, Indonesia).

Red Velvet, Carrot Cake, (I forgot what's the third) and Pistachio Cake

Pempek

The teacher made the class seemed easy. In fact, the cake taste good and it's healthy :D I will share the recipe when I make it again.

Nadya's Birthday / Canon Camera Cake

Somebody's celebrating her birthday on May 3rd! ;;) My best friend, Christie Nadya turned 15 that day. I had been planning to bake her a camera sculpted cake since she's pretty much into photography. I didn't turn out as I wanted though :S

Well, this is.. you know.. what I wished mine would looked like :

And this is how it turned out :

WOW. Such a big contrast. *blush*
I'm quite happy with it because it's my first? or second? time sculpting a cake. In fact, practice makes perfect right? I'll just have to learn and practice more about cake sculpting :D

After everything's ready, me and and 'the birthday squad' headed to her house to surprise her.

Then we had barbeque in her lawn. What a fun night! The food was so good and every time was very enjoyable.

The Most Dangerous Chocolate Cake Recipe in the World!

What will you do when you're craving for chocolate cake?

a.Do nothing
b.Sleep and dream eating it
c.Make one in 3-minute time!

In 3-minute time?! SERIOUSLY?! YES! I got this recipe from yoyomax (search in youtube). So, why does it called the most dangerous chocolate cake? Because it's so easy to make and takes only a few ingredients that you can make it anytime! Here's the recipe :D

This is my sister helping me in the kitchen :D
Ingredients :

-4 tbsp flour
-4 tbsp sugar
-2 tsp  cocoa powder
-1 egg
-3 tbsp milk
-3 tbsp oil (I use vegetable oil)
-a dash of vanilla extract
-3 tbsp chocolate chips (optional)

Method :

-Mix the dry ingredients with spoon (flour, sugar, cocoa).
-Add egg, milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Stir until it forms a smooth batter.
-Stir in chocolate chips
-Place mixture in a microwave-safe mug and microwave on high for 3 minutes.
-Serve it warm with ice cream, chocolate sauce, whipped topping or anything you think will work.

*You can mix it directly in the mug but make sure it's big enough

This is how it looks when it's done :

YIPPPPIIIEE!
I kinda over-filled the batter. And it messes up my microwave a bit. My sister wanted to make another one and I let her. This time, I used a bigger mug and it turned out better!

The second mug I used. I didn't use the lid.
Happy 3-minute-chocolate-microwave-cake-making!

Easter Celebration at School (1)

Today my school held a church service to celebrate Easter. Then later in the afternoon, the student council organized some competitions. They were baseball (kasti in Indonesia), diorama making (which I joined), collecting eggs (for 7 and 8 grade, too bad.. I really wanted to participate too D: ), and photography.

So, in the diorama you had to show a scene about Easter, either it's resurrection of Jesus Christ, rabbits, or Easter Eggs. My class choose the theme "Resurrection of Jesus Christ". Then, I ask my teacher if it's okay to make a diorama out of cake (since I bought a cake mix and hadn't use it and I just wanted to make something different). And she agreed! The idea was to carve a cave with an Angel sitting on it and Mary Magdalene with the other Mary kneeling in front of the cave out of cake. It turn out pretty good :D Thanks a lot to the team (Lady Carlen, Jane Michelle and Maria) and my friend Christie Nadya :*

I baked the cake at home one day before the celebration and decorated it together at school. It was so much fun than decorating alone :P

Baking at my mini kitchen :P
This is how it looked after decorated! I piped "Selamat Paskah"(Happy Easter in Indonesia) in the cake mat. I didn't upload it because I STILL forgot how to rotate a picture and STILL haven't find out how.

The close-up look. It looked a bit weird but I love it <3
I'm going to write the second part soon! That's all for now. Bye-bye thanks for stopping by :P

RAINBOW CAKE!

I know I said "...so I'll just have to go slow and write type them one by one.." But I changed my mine. I'm too lazy to recollect my previous photos. And I think I'm just going to go trough to what-i-really-want-to-post and do it right know!

Have you heard about rainbow cake? Of course!

I always browse the internet to find a rainbow cake recipe, but usually, I end up with colored white cake mix cake, instead a do-it-yourself-from-scratch recipe. One day, a  friend (big thanks to her!)gave me a white cake recipe (from scratch!) that taste slightly vanilla and really white (SO! I can divide  the batter and color them rainbowly :P). It took so many egg whites though..

IF you're wondering "Why rainbow cake?" it's simply because of my obsession with RAINBOWS! Rainbow is just so beautiful ;;) It made me want to eat them. I've always been so curious how does a rainbow taste like? Does it taste like m&m's? Gummy bears? Fruits? I STILL don't know YET. Even though this cake only give me a vanilla taste, it satisfy me a bit. It's like eating a rainbow in a plate (I DID NOT eat directly with my face on the plate, I spooned it!).

I made rainbow jello too, but you know, it's from a box not a do-it-yourself-from-scratch which I didn't really enjoy making. But it still taste great, once again, it's like eating a rainbow! :)

I've made the rainbow cake several times. Here they are!

White from the outside but RAINBOWY inside

My very first rainbow cake. It looks horrifying..

Kit-Kat and M&M's cake, it's a chocolate cake but it's still colorful right? ;;)

Mini Oreo Cheesecake Cupcakes

Finally I make another cheesecake after failing before! My previous cheesecake was too sweet, VERY sweet even for a sweet tooth (me), because I forgot the measurement of the sugar (SO,I threw a lot of sugar in the batch and crossed my fingers :p). I found out this recipe taste better but I don't like it very much. It is not sweet enough for me, so I topped them with nutella :9 . Maybe I'll add some sugar next time.

Ingredients : (makes 30)
  • 42 cream filled sandwich cookies, such as Oreos, 30 left whole, and 12 coarsely chopped (but I used oriorio *I think it's a fake oreo brand?* because I can only found double stuffed oreos in the store)
  • 2 pounds cream cheese, room temparature (I used original philadelphia cream cheese)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 4 large eggs, room temperature, lightly beaten
  • 1 cup of sour cream
  • pinch of salt
Methods :
  • Preheat oven to 275 degrees. Line standard muffin tins with paper liners. Place 1 whole cookie in the bottom of each lined cup.
  • With an electric mixer on medium high speed, beat cream cheese until smooth, scraping down sides of bowl as needed. Gradually add sugar, and beat them until combined. Beat in vanilla.
  • Drizzle in eggs, a bit at a time, beating to combine and scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed. Beat in sour cream and salt. Stir in chopped cookies by hand.

  • Divide batter evenly among cookie-lined cups, filling each almost to the top. Bake, rotating pan halfway through, until filling is set, about 22 minutes. Transfer to wire rack to cool completely. Refrigerate at least 4 hours (or up to overnight). Remove from tins just before serving.

This is how my cheesecakes looked like after baked :
